J came home with a nasty cold Thursday, slept all day Friday and did nothing but sleep and blow yesterday. Poor guy. I managed to use that as an excuse to do absolutely nothing yesterday. I mean it, nothing. It was pathetic. Apparently a day off was long overdue.
Kitchen cabinets still aren't done but with some discipline (ha!) I could get all the painting done today and get the doors hung tomorrow. Then it's on to dealing with the windows. A new adventure in learning how to do something I'd really rather not know how to do. lol The stick so bad from the many layers of paint that they've got to be taken down and stripped. Plus more than a few panes are broken throughout the house so I gotta learn reglazing too. Yippee!
Hopefully the nasty pile of trash will be taken care of this week. Someone is supposed to come by, take a look and give us a price today. I'm at the point where I don't care how much, just please take it away. I'm sure it's attracting all kinds of nasty bugs and critters or is going to real soon.
Tomorrow we get our dish back. Sad to say, but thank goodness! I miss having TV. There's not a huge list of shows that I really make an effort to see but there are some good shows I hate to miss and it's nice to have mindless entertainment sometimes. I realized that I do actually use it for news and such when London was bombed so there's even a slightly less frivolous reason for it.
And getting a bid on a fire alarm system Tuesday. (required by insurance company, home ownership is so fun, bleah) Hmmm, better add cleaning to the list for today, though it's not exactly noticeable what will all the boxes and general disorder around here. |

Yay for the return of the dish! SciFriday has officially eaten my brain. :D
Fire alarm system? Smoke detectors aren't enough anymore?
Btw you and my boss, I'm appreciating renting so much more these days...
Because the FD has a 10 minute response time the insurance company wants use to have one of those auto-call smoke alarm dealies. So everytime I burn some toast the FD will come. lol At least they give a discount for it that's essentially the cost of the system and it will make us safer I suppose but it's just another pain in the ass thing we have to do. | |
